Digestive Health Clinic consists of a dedicated team of professionals united by a common mission to provide the best gastroenterology and hepatology care to the Big Country region.
We use evidence-based practices and the latest technology to help us diagnose, treat and oversee a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. From common issues like constipation and diarrhea to more complex concerns such as colon cancer, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease.
Digestive issues can be exhausting — both physically and emotionally — but you can rest assured we combine our expertise with compassion and will always put your comfort first.

Avery Smith, MD
Avery Smith, MD
Dr. Smith's educational journey began at Midland High School, followed by undergraduate studies at Midland College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He then went to Texas A&M College of Medicine and graduated with high honors. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency, where he also served as chief resident at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.
He pursued further specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology during his fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center, where he fine-tuned his skills in advanced endoscopic procedures.

Shelby Smith, FNP
Shelby Smith, FNP, is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to the team. In addition to providing comprehensive gastroenterology care, she also focuses on helping patients with non-surgical weight loss solutions.
Jana Stewart, FNP
Jana Stewart, FNP
Jana Stewart joined the practice in 2021 and demonstrates clinical excellence with her presence in both inpatient and outpatient care at the Digestive Health clinic and Hendrick Medical Center. Jana is a resident of Haskell and oversees outreach clinics in both Haskell and Breckenridge on a monthly basis.

Chelsea Humphreys, RN
Chelsea Humphreys, RN graduated from Angelo State university in February 2015. She was so impressed by the nurses that took care of her son in NICU and wanted to make the same impact for those she could help. Over the years she has been in multiple different medical areas such as pediatrics, family med, endocrinology, and now gastro.

Christi Felix, MA
Christi Felix grew up in Eula and started in gastro in 2020. Before starting work in the medical field she worked in childcare and was a stay at home mom. Christi's coworkers describe her as the most sweet and kindest souls and love to laugh.
Amanda Schnabes, MA
Amanda Schnabes, MA
Amanda grew up in Eula, but started her medical career in Montana. She has been in gastro since 2013, in 2021 she joined our office. Amanda strives to efficiently communicate between patients and providers.

We take all insurance, Hendrick however does not accept Ambetter if you are needing any services rendered from them separately.
If you have a PPO or are self pay you do not need a referral. If you have Tricare Prime, Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO, Health Select, and Triwest VA, do require referral authorization.
At every appointment we need your an insurance card, valid ID, and current list of medications.
Self pay client’s initial new patient visit is $165.00, follow up appointments are $80.00 each visit.
